Android lost app review

I love Google Maps. It's one of the most useful applications on my phone, and I would be lost without it. Not metaphorically, but literally – I'm really quite awful with directions. A lot of great features have been added over the years, including some sweet new ones just a few days ago , But there's one feature we all still hunger for, and that feature is posted speed limits. Thanks to a new app called Velociraptor by developer PlusCubed, that's a feature we can now enjoy – albeit with a couple of minor hiccups.

Velociraptor works by overlaying a floating icon over top of the Google Maps app. The icon displays the speed limit for the road you're driving on and, optionally, it can also display your vehicle's current velocity. After the initial setup, it launches automatically when you open Google Maps. It's super nifty, check it out.

The app setup is quick simple. The first thing you will need to do after you download it is grant a few permissions needed to make the app function. You'll be walked through the steps and it's impossible to get lost within the application because it consists of only one page. This page.

Android lost app review

Avast Mobile Security has more than 100 million installs in Google Play and a solid 4.5 user rating, and it was our Editor's Choice for Best Android Security App in 2014 and 2015. We liked its huge assortment of powerful anti-theft and privacy tools (including some for rooted phones only), and its excellent, if not quite perfect, malware -detection rate.

In January 2016, Avast Mobile Security moved from a freemium model (it was originally $14.99 per year to unlock all the features) and became a purely free app, supported by ads. Avast still offers one of the most comprehensive and customizable feature sets in the Android antivirus market. But its malware-detection rate is inconsistent, its system impact is heavy, and some of its formerly best features, such as a backup option and a locate function for rooted phones that survived a factory reset, have been discontinued.

We still recommend Avast Mobile Security as the best free Android antivirus solution. But if you're willing to pay, Bitdefender Mobile Security is your best bet.

It’s amazing how even the most organised individuals, that is those who regularly back up documents and always plan ahead for future engagements, can occasionally find themselves up that notorious creek without a paddle. Take for instance when someone loses their phone. Not enough people have prepared themselves for this. The best applications to help you find or wipe your phone need to be installed in advance. There is at least one notable exception, which could well save your phone.

Plan B is the application to install when your phone is already missing. However, if you’re really going to get prepared for that lost phone scenario you might like to install a few other great applications too.

Plan B is the perfect application to use when your phone is already missing and you realise you never installed any of the nifty apps which would have helped you find your phone. You can install it remotely by going to the Android market and it will use GPS or an SMS to find your phone’s location and email that to you. If you need a location after this, you can send an SMS to your phone from a friend’s phone saying “Locate” and the application will send another email with the new location.
