The yin to the Honda Crosstour’s yang, Toyota’s Venza enters 2013 with mildly revised exterior styling, several new standard convenience features, and a smattering of updated option packages.

Up front, the Venza’s grille is a bolder, cleaner interpretation of its original chrome arrangement. The lower inlet trades egg-crate mesh for a more traditional crosshatch pattern and is now ringed in chrome. The fog lamps remain set into the lower fascia, but now feature restyled chrome surrounds.

Three new colors—Attitude Black, Cypress Pearl, and Cosmic Gray Mica—join the Venza’s options for 2013, with a set of freshly designed 19-inch wheels rounding out the exterior updates. The V-6 equipped model comes with 20-inch, five-spoke alloys as standard.

The Sequoia received an updated version of Toyota ’s Entune entertainment system for 2016, which featured Connected Navigation and Siri Eyes Free functionality. The Safety and Convenience package was added to the Limited trim, and added blind spot warning, lane change assist and driver’s side memory seat and side mirrors. There are no changes for the 2017 model.

The 2017 Toyota Sequoia is a full-size three-row SUV offered with rear- or four-wheel-drive, with seating for up to eight passengers.

The Sequoia offers a single engine and powertrain, a 5.7-liter V-8 with 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The 4.6-liter V-8 was dropped from the lineup in the 2013 model year. While power output is competitive for its class, fuel economy is not, with the Sequoia lagging class leaders by a significant margin. Cargo space is generous, with 18.9 cubic feet behind the third row, 66.6 cubic feet behind the second row, and a voluminous 120.1 cubic feet behind the front seats. The Sequoia can tow up to 7,400 pounds.

Toyota has added more standard safety features to the 2017 Avalon. Now, Toyota’s “Safety Sense P” suite of active safety systems is standard on all models. It includes an automatic braking function that can detect pedestrians as well as cars, lane departure warning and a steering assist system to nudge you back into the lane, active cruise control, and automatic high beams.

The Avalon is Toyota’s largest and most luxurious sedan. Sitting above the Camry in the lineup, it is also the most expensive vehicle (excepting trucks and SUVs) Toyota sells.

New in 2013 and refreshed in 2016, the 2017 Toyota Avalon is virtually unchanged. The standard powertrain continues to be a 3.5-liter V-6 producing 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque and driving a six-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid model is available and utilizes a 2.5-liter I-4 mated to an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission. Both powertrains drive the front wheels. The V-6 returns an EPA-estimated 21/31 mpg city/highway for the 2016 model and the hybrid returns 40/39 mpg; as of this writing, 2017 ratings haven’t yet been released.
